According to Brila fm, Nigeria’s top sports radio station, the Nigeria Football Federation has fired Augustine Eguavoen as the Super Eagles’ head coach.
“Austin Eguavoen will return to his post as Technical Director of all national teams after stepping down as Super Eagles Head Coach.
“Reliable sources say Eguavoen informed the NFF of his decision in an official letter.”
According to Brila Media, the NFF will fire Eguavoen as a result of the failed World Cup attempt, although the embattled Coach has not to sign the proposed two-year contract for the Super Eagles post, which he was awarded two days before the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Ghana.” According to the radio station Brila fm.
On March 25, Nigeria held Ghana to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in the opening leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles missed their fourth consecutive World Cup appearance due to the away goal rule when the second leg ended 1-1.
